1924年島根県に生まれ、
大阪美術学校油絵科を卒業。
その後、油絵から童画に転じ多数の絵本を描く。
独特の透明感のある作風で、
絵本は『ないたあかおに』（世界文化社）、
『ごんぎつね』『ひよこ』（ひさかたチャイルド）など多数ある。

児童文化功労賞受賞。

With a unique, transparent style, he has written many picture books, including "Crying Red Ogre" (Sekai Bunka Publishing), "Gon the Fox" and "Chick" (Hisakata Child).
