This volume describes every Grand Prix car built, from the very first Grand Prix in 1906, to the close of the 2000 season. All the marques are covered, from the greats like Ferrari, Lotus and McLaren to the smallest one-car constructors. Topics include: how technical regulations have evolved throughout the history of Grand Prix; cars built to Grand Prix regulations that never actually started in a GP; and finally, F2 cars that competed in the World Championship. Also included is an alphbetical listing of every manufacturer.

During a long and active career, David Hodges was a book editor, a prolific author and a contributor to many British and European motoring magazines. In the 1990s David produced an A-Z directory that covered every formula and single-seater car produced since 1945. This provided the impetus to extend his researches to the century-long A-Z of Grand Prix Cars - his final and most ambitious motoring project of all.
